This Knife Looks Like a Movie Prop—But It’ll Tear Through Your Toughest Tasks
The APOC Demko Rhino Hybrid isn’t just wickedly cool—it’s a hardcore survival tool that chops, pries, and smashes like a beast in the wild.
It's not just incredibly cool; it's incredibly useful too!
The new APOC Survival Tools Demko Rhino Hybrid is an audacious-looking camp cleaver that looks like it escaped the prop department of a slasher movie set. It has a long and neutral 6" full-tang handle with micromilled G10 scales, a downward-raked 5 mm thick 6" full-bellied D2 saber-ground cleaver blade (complete with hanging hole), and at the tip, the Rhino Hybrid sports an upward-facing spike.
The whole thing looks like a rhinoceros and hits like one too!
I had a chance to take out the Rhino Hybrid this past weekend and bang around with it. My task? I disassembled an old patio table with wood slats and prepared it for the fire pit. The fire pit has become my favorite way of disposing of anything wooden, like our old swing set and a bunch of other accumulated stuff.
The Rhino's spike excelled at prying and popping the wooden slats from their frames, and when those slats held with too much tenacity, the Rhino became a chopper and... well... smasher. I got my fire started with an APOC Wallace Puukko and its ferro rod and began to feed the flames with the wood slats.
However, because the table had been exposed to rain and humidity, the wood burned slowly. No problem; the Rhino was here to help.
To get to the dry inner wood of each 3/4" slat for quicker burning, I'd lay it flat on my chopping stump and hit it along the grain with the rhino horn on the back tip of the cleaver blade, and it would explode into two pieces.
This continued until the old wooden table, with all its memories of family barbecues and parties, was itself a memory.
My respect for the knife grew exponentially after that. I was reassured that it isn't just a cool-looking piece of kit to impress your friends with, but the APOC Survival Tools Demko Rhino Hybrid is a very useful survival tool.
But I should not have been surprised; it was designed by one of the best!
