I am very excited to announce the arrival of the follow-up knife to the NoVA-1 EDC Bowie that I designed with ABS Journeyman Smith Matt Chase of Hogtooth Knives.
The NoVA-2 fits the same carry profile and ergonomics as the NoVA-1 (based on Hogtooth’s EDC Tanto), but the new knife sports a kiridashi blade, a shape absolutely ideal for both EDC/utility chores as well as self-defense and '“knife fightin’!”
Like its predecessor, the NoVA-2 is offered in an exclusive color way: a handle of polished ivory G10 with red liners contrasting with the dark acid stone wash of the hollow ground 154 CM blade.
The blade sports jimping for the thumb in the perfect location and has the Hogtooth logo on one side and The Knife Junkie logo on the other.
Both elemental and refined, NoVA-2 echoes notes of feudal Japan and raiding Vikings, of gentleman assassins and rugged outdoorsmen.
Okay, that was a bit much, but those were the historical and categorical inspirations that went into the design. Those and the very practical notion of offering an inspired and inspirational fixed-blade EDC from one of today’s great knife makers and your favorite knife junkie.
Keep your eyes peeled for preorder details coming soon!

Volwest, Stati9n: The Knife Junkie Podcast (Episode 496)
Volwest from Stati9n is featured on Episode 496 of The Knife Junkie Podcast (https://theknifejunkie.com/496).
Stati9n specializes in the development of unconventional tools and weapons for combatives and survival in austere environments and occupied zones.
Inspired by the secret British WW2 organization S.O.E. ("Special Operations Executive"), whose purpose was to conduct espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance in Axis-occupied Europe and Southeast Asia.
Stati9n is also inspired by the weapons used by armies with rew resources during WW1, when butcher knives and other common household tools were modified for brutal trench warfare.
The company's offerings range from weapons for close quarters fighting to discreet but useful tools for minimalist urban and outback survival.
Though knives are Stati9n's specialty, they also make other defensive tools, like a knuckle duster inspired by Austro-Hungarian knuckles from WW1; a non-metallic push dagger made of G10; and faux chopsticks, also made of G10, to give the owner something robust and stabby in non-permissive environments.
