Happy Memorial Day from the Knife Junkie!
I just wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to all the men and women who have lost their lives defending my freedom and that of my family, especially the girls I am raising in this nation.
I would also like to express my deepest gratitude to those men and women today who put on a uniform at great sacrifice to themselves in order to protect my freedoms and ensure that my children enjoy the same America I inherited.
Many of the great knifemakers I interview on the Knife Junkie Podcast are veterans who have found solace in the pursuit of knife making.
Whether it is the highly ordered process central to knife making or the idea of creating a tool that will outlast the flesh and blood of the generation that made it, the knife making enterprise resonates highly with military members.
And who better to make our knives than those whose lives have depended on them?
To all who have served or who are serving, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sacrifice.
To those who have died protecting this nation and her freedoms, God bless you eternally for your action, your courage and your sacrifice!
Bob

Charles Jones Blades: The Knife Junkie Podcast (Episode 508)
Charles Jones of Charles Jones Blades joins Bob "The Knife Junkie" DeMarco on Episode 508 of The Knife Junkie Podcast (theknifejunkie.com/508).
Each Charles Jones blade is made entirely by hand, from start to finish, in house. Jones prides himself on his heat treatment and thermal cycling to maximize the toughness of the blade steel. His chosen temperature, time, and quench for each steel maximizes hardness and edge retention.
Though beautiful, every Charles Jones blade is meant for work, whether small trapper, large chopper or sword. He believes that the type of blade steel used in making a knife should compliment the intended use of the design.
