I am a very proud papa and hubby! My ladies are going through a very specific knife phase, and it ain’t my doing.
My oldest daughter has been dagger-curious for months now. Having burned through all the teen post-apocalyptic book series, she determined that a dagger best fits her after-the-fall persona.
She sent me an Amazon link for a $12 wall-hanger dagger that she wanted for her birthday. It looks like a stunted version of Aragorn’s sword, and it’s been on the slow boat from China. What am I going to say — no?
When I told my daughter this morning that her dagger would be arriving tomorrow, she pumped her fist in the air and gave a long “YEEESSS!”
Then my beautiful wife chimed in, “I want a dagger. I like daggers.” God, I love that woman!
“You want a dagger, Baby? I’ll get you a dagger. I know just the one (or two, or three).” How many loving husbands get to say that?
Once I consider use, carry, aesthetics, etc., I will embark on a dagger-finding mission for my little lady.
Maybe I’ll go the custom route, or maybe something she’s more apt to throw in her purse.
However it goes down, I do know that having three people in the house going through a “dagger phase” (or any other type of knife phase) will get expensive.
As I’m finishing writing this, my youngest girl, who is 8.5 years old, comes in to tell me dinner’s ready.
As I tell her I’ll be right there, she picks up the Spartan Blades Raider Dagger from my desk and asks to unsheathe it. “Tell Mom I’ll be right up,” I say, ignoring her request, realizing she’s next to get bit by the dagger bug!
This will be expensive, indeed.
