Idaho Becomes 14th Knife Law Preemption State!
Exciting news from Knife Rights on Friday. According to the KnifeRights.org website:
“In a victory nine years in the making, Governor Brad Little yesterday signed H0620, Knife Rights’ bill that will enact Knife Rights’ signature Knife Law Preemption in Idaho. It becomes effective on July 1, 2024.”
“This represents the fourteenth state in which we have eliminated local ordinances more restrictive than state law which only serve to confuse or entrap law-abiding citizens traveling within or through the state.”
Preemption ensures citizens can expect consistent enforcement of state knife laws everywhere within a state.
Knife Rights passed the nation’s first Knife Law Preemption bill in Arizona in 2010 and has since passed preemption bills in Alaska, Georgia, Kansas, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and now, Idaho.
Knife Rights efforts have resulted in 45 bills repealing knife bans in 28 states and over 175 cities and towns since 2010.
