Elevate Your Dining Experience Every Time!
Discover this simple tip that will revolutionize your restaurant outings forever
Last Thursday, my wife joined the club—the half-hundred club.
We are planning a blowout party with her huge family and a bunch of friends, but that is a couple of weeks off, so for her birthday proper, we went out to a fancy restaurant we’ve been eying up for years.
When we were younger, childless, and far less deserving, we went to our fair share of nice restaurants; after all, we were in NYC. Say what you want about the Big Apple, but damn, there is some good food there!
For Mrs. Knife Junkie’s birthday meal, I was pretty confident I would be ordering a steak, so I went prepared.
Nothing offends the gourmet in me more than sawing a beautiful and expensive cut of meat with a dull steak “knife.”
In my pocket for the task was a knife I got for my birthday from @ThisOldSword, the retro bowie flipper by Artisan Cutlery (affiliate link) called Hyperion.
When my steak arrived, I was a little bummed that it had been sliced, and its pieces were placed on a bed of root vegetables. It would require less overall cutting but still afford me the opportunity to use the Hyperion.
It was amazing how effortlessly the S35VN clip-point blade glided through that bison flesh and how nicely it complemented the whole table with its elegant setting, glasses of wine, and beautiful-to-look-at food presentation.
I also love the furtive glances at the dazzling blade from the wait staff.
Overall, I’d say having the Hyperion as my steak knife enhanced my enjoyment of the meal.
So next time you find yourself in a restaurant, be it a diner or the hottest new spot in town, don’t settle for the sub-standard cutlery they will inevitably arm you with; bring your own and enjoy a whole new dimension of your knife collection.
With that wisdom dropped, the Knife Junkie is out!
