Dang! This Thing Makes Me Feel Macho!!
What took me so long to get it.
I finally have a traditional version of my favorite folder. Why did it take me so long?
I was dutifully buying various cleaning and other household products online when it occurred to me, “Amazon sells everything; I wonder if they have a Spanish Navaja.”
A quick search revealed that, indeed, I could buy a Navaja on Amazon—made by Joker, no less. Joker is a well-respected Spanish knife manufacturer, supplying stout and sturdy knives to hunters and outdoorsmen the world over.
The Joker Sevillana I was most enamored with the brass bolsters, stag handle covers and long, graceful clip-point blade made of MoV 1.4116 steel.
My cart already overflowing with batteries, phone cords, and other necessities, I dropped the blade in the cart, figuring, “If the world ends next week, I would regret never having a legit Spanish Navaja.”
All the justification I needed. My lizard brain dropped the Sevillana in my cart and pressed the “Go” button before my human brain could catch up.
Now I sit, sipping on a glass of Rioja, turning this fine knife around in my hands (not really) and the sounds from the bullfighting ring are echoing gently over the hacienda wall (I wish). The Spanish sun worships me, I test the blade’s edge, reaping tufts of manly hair off my perfectly bronzed chest, I think to myself that it is good and right for me to have acquired this historical folder.
Any man who would do less is less than a man.
Damn, this thing makes me feel macho!
