Confessions of a Knife Hoarder: The Shocking Truth About My Obsession
Inside the Mind of a Blade Enthusiast: What I've Learned So Far
As I write this, I am about halfway through shooting a video survey series on my full collection of knives, something that is long overdue. Check out Part 1 here and Part 2 here if you haven’t seen them.
What have I learned so far?
I have a lot of knives that get next to no use or carry, and yet I find it difficult to even consider selling them.
I have learned I am sentimental over material objects, maybe as a way of justifying keeping them, replacing my greedier, materialistic appetites with emotional attachment.
I learned that no matter how deeply I look, I cannot quite account for my fascination with knives and that I cannot keep up with its growth in terms of numbers.
You might say I am nearly out of control.
These things all sound negative, or at least tinged with negativity. And then there are the thoughts of all the money and time spent on this collection, which remains largely locked away, which can be nagging and judgy.
But what would I be getting into if it weren’t this? More expensive hobbies?
Guns? Watches? Cars? Electronics? Nights out with the boys? Extra-marital affairs? Cocaine? Hell, I could even get into high end flashlights, and that’s got to be worse than knives!
So all things considered, as long as you’re not breaking the family bank, collect those knives, wholesome as they are -- they are keeping you out of trouble!
Let the wife know. Knife Junkie out!
