I’m headed to Blade Show 2023 this week and cannot wait to get to Atlanta again for the World’s Premier Knife Event, now a beloved personal tradition.
And again this year, we will be producing a podcast from Blade that will have brief interviews and a look at what I’ve acquired, which, as I am not made of money, will not be much. That episode will go live next Sunday, June 4, on YouTube and your favorite podcast app.
One thing I do hope to find at Blade Show this year, is a custom double-edge push dagger that can easily be EDC’ed.
I carry defensive fixed blades all the time, most of which make for great utility blades, but this push dagger I am imagining would be a single purpose design. I know that other things will present themselves, but if I find a good push dagger I will be happy.
The best thing about Blade Show is to meet (in person) the people I’ve interviewed on the Podcast or have otherwise talked with over the year.
The environment is so friendly and positive, with everyone’s energy revolving around a love of knives and kinship with each other. If you really think about it, knife collecting/enthusiasm is an unusual hobby, so we are lucky that the lion’s share of folks that make up the knife community are cool people.
Now all that’s left to do, besides pack clothes, is figure out which high-value (inexpensive) folder I will take to Atlanta as my one EDC knife.
I am only willing to sacrifice one to TSA if it comes to that, so this year I’ll probably take the Kubey Flash like last year. Maybe that will become a tradition too.
Hope to see you at Blade! Be sure to introduce yourself… love to meet you!!
