Who doesn’t love Friday...? Well, this past Friday was one for the books!
I got home after fighting rainy D.C. area traffic (which is always soothing to the soul) anxious to open the large box that I knew would be waiting for me. DLT Trading had just released the Work Tuff Gear Puzon Predator Hunter Bowie and after a few days on tenter [spelled correctly] hooks — wondering if they would sell out before I could ensure it was a responsible purchase — I pulled the trigger.
DLT is amazing, on the same day I put in the order they packaged the knife and FedExed it to me, at no cost, with only one day in between.
Knowing the knife would be too large to put under the KnifeCam, I gathered my camera crew (daughters) and excitedly set out to do the unboxing video. I sliced open the box with the NoVA-1 and rescued the WTF PPHB from its cardboard captivity.
Like a giddy school girl I pulled out the knife and marveled at its size, design and incredible sharpness. It’s like a massive Bowie viewed through the lens of the famous knife from the Predator movie. Absolutely sublime.
Still riding high on the knife that would have reassured my 14 year-old self that I made a lifetime of good decisions to lead me to this moment, my wife handed me another package — this one much smaller.
On the same day I received my largest fixed blade knife, my smallest folder to date also arrived in the shape of the Bestech Bihai, sent for review by the company (thanks Bestech!)
With the same eagerness I showed for the Predator Hunter, I cut open the padded envelope and out dropped the teeny, tiny box.
The Bihai is an impressively menacing, wee little hawkbill bladed front flipper, designed by Ostap Hel -- the 4th installment in his Bouquet series of flower inspired designs. When closed the Bihai hides completely in my fist, but still has the smooth action, cutting prowess and fidgetabilty of any Bestech knife.
I looked at the WTG PPHB and the Bihai together and considered the contrast and counted myself lucky to be in the position to have both knives — because if I had to choose, it would be difficult.
Totally impractical and impressive vs. totally practical and wicked. It’s a true Knife Junkie’s dilemma and scholarly study in contrast.
It also put in sharp relief for me that I like all the knives, I really do. Hence the Junkie moniker.
Keep your eyes on Friday, for good things happen on Friday … have a stellar week!
Knife Junkie Out!

The Knife Junkie Podcast (Episode 399)
Tomas Alas of the Tactical Tavern Channel on YouTube and Instagram joined me on Sunday for this week’s interview show, episode 399 of The Knife Junkie Podcast.
I first met at Tomas the WE Knife booth at Blade Show 2021, which was the seminal networking experience for Tomas in the knife world.
Tomas represents the next generation of knife junkies, unafraid to confront the realities of the tactical uses of knives while maintaining a healthy sense of humor about himself and the subject. Central to his efforts is the acknowledgement that most knives are used in an Everyday Carry capacity and as such, must be evaluated in that light.
The Tactical Tavern channel gives you all the information you need to know about a knife "for your everyday carry, outdoor adventure or next tactical mission."
